The most important thing to do is to make sure everyone is okay. Life and health are more important than vehicle damage. Inspect your car and make note of damages to all the vehicles involved.
Exchange information with other drivers. Write down names, addresses, and license numbers of everyone involved. For a great reference use our GloveBox Accident Reporting Form to gather all of the information you will need to gather when involved in an accident.
- Write down a description of all the vehicles.
- If the damage is over $900 you must call the police. (As a rule of thumb if you are not sure of the amount, call the police).
- If there are any witnesses, write their names and addresses down.
- Make notes about special circumstances such as the visibility, the road condition, or the weather.
